Band of Survivors Team Update 14

So yeah, Wednesday July 12, 2006 was overall a pretty good day. I personally started the day with a 2:00 to 4:00am prayer shift, which by the way was good. During the shift, God really just reassured me that what we were going to do that day would go over well and that the people we encountered would come closer to God. God also just put it on my heart to pray for this lady I had encountered on the previous day. This lady was amazing. It was me and a couple other friends on the team that met her and heard her story. I won’t go in depth to it but I’ll tell you how it goes. So this lady was originally from New Orleans and she lived there her whole life before coming to Chicago in December. The reason why she moved here was because of the horrible hurricane that occurred in the previous month. Things were so hard on her and they just got worse when she got split up from her family. But the fact of the matter is that though all of these horrible things that happed to this lady she still stayed strong in her faith. Furthermore, this lady got stronger through the experience and really realized that the whole time God was looking over here. She showed us hot to have faith in God and also in what He is doing in our lives. Nevertheless, what I’m trying to say is she had amazing faith and gave a whole new perspective on how I should be living my life.

Anyways, it was a real blessing and I’m glad I had the opportunity to pray about it. We then started off the day as usual and also had cell groups in the morning. After having lunch we made a trip downtown to the Moody Bible Institute where one of our leaders goes to school. We were there because we were getting supplies for an open air meeting downtown. The supplies were for an art evangelism project. This project was meant to reach out to the community and share the gospel. While some of us were on Michigan Ave. assisting the presenters others were a part of a prayer walk around the city. In my opinion both the prayer walk and the presentation went well. During the prayer walk a lot of us got the opportunity to reach out and talk to many homeless people. For many of us it was a moving experience and it really taught us about how we take so much for granted. Overall I think the prayer walk went very well and it really made us think. The other part of the time we were there we got to really share the gospel in a cool way. So we got a paint board and showed people by painting pictures. Most of us just got to be in the crowd trying to talk to people. When some of us actually got the opportunity to talk, I think it went well and they ended up getting closer to God in their conversations.

So overall the evangelism went well and I think we al got the opportunity to talk to many people about God.
